Just bought a xc60 r design. Does anyone have winter experience driving this car? How was the handling?

When temperatures get below 45F summer compound tire rubber becomes hard. As temps get at or below freezing (32F) all season tires are less performant than dedicated winter tire compounds. If your winters are in the 30s or lower most of the winter, get a set of dedicated winter tires. If you area has frequent snow and ice, get a more aggressive winter tire. Nokian, Michelin and Pirelli offer excellent winter/snow tires.

Your XC60's AWD will help you get moving better than FWD but you need appropriate tires to provide the necessary grip for stopping and steering.

Stop by your local Volvo retailer and see if they have a decently priced package for your XC60.
