Has anyone experience this issue? I have a 2015.5 S60 T5, when accelerating, I get this ticking/clicking noise for about a second or so. And it feels like its losing power. Usually occurs between 3k to 4K rpm. I feel like I don't get that quick torch. Any idea?

I'm also getting 1 - 3 hard pings on medium acceleration on hot days, then power drops, I'm assuming from the ECU backing off the timing and/or throttle. This can't be healthy, right? Also, I'm using 91 octane. Please let me know if the dealer has acknowledged this one.

I hope you're getting the car to your dealership ASAP. If you are getting something that sounds like a hard ping it's a sure sign of a problem.
All depends on how often you're running the turbo...
So any time the car is running?
me too!

I've been seeing it also recently (after 10k miles). I see it when the engine is at op temp and I'm accelerating pretty hard, such as on a short, uphill freeway ramp. I also get about 3 clicks (in about 1 s) but don't notice a power drop. The sound seems too low of a frequency to be a ping to me. I run 89 octane normally.

This has been my only real problem with the car thus far. I'm looking to buy a '16 polestar while a few of the i6 engine cars still exist. Too bad they didn't come in power blue and most are the ugly blue.
I've been hearing it more frequently as time goes on (or I'm just more sensitized to it). It always sounds like it's coming from my foot well. Just as a data point, I had all of the software updated yesterday since the car was in for unrelated work and I heard it again within a half mile of departing the dealership. I keep hoping Volvo will quietly write a software patch to correct some calibration for it but not yet.
Add me to the list. Exact same issue, couple of clicks during acceleration and power loss. The weird thing is it sounds like it's coming from inside the cabin. Almost in the middle but who knows. Turbo, contactors, fuel pump? I am going to keep close watch and take it in after another 1000 miles.

Started happening more with hot weather.

Also started getting some hard up shifts when coasting.

Still love this car, just need to get a couple of things fixed.

Did anyone resolve/fix this problem? I am experiencing the same issue on my 2015 Volvo S60 T5. Intermittent clicking/rattling noise during quick acceleration, around sharp curves, under load. Dealership looked at it twice but could not replicate and there were no codes. Any help or information is appreciated.
I've been experiencing the EXACT same issue. I made some videos / audio clips of it from my iPhone. Can anyone confirm that this is what they're hearing? For reference, I have a 2015.5 XC70 T5 Drive-E. It's been to the dealer 3 times and still no resolution. :(

Hard accelerations, uphill, quick rattle, etc... it sounds like everything that everyone has been describing. Please tell me there's a fix!!!?!?!?!
"Video 1" is spot-on with my experience. It's that quick metallic tapping immediately after a sudden throttle application.

I encourage you to record yours as well and keep spreading the word. My car has been to the dealer 3 times for a total of over 35 days and they're at a loss too. They've done some pretty thorough checks, and I'm starting to feel bad for bugging them. The more this gets elevated though, the quicker we can get resolution. It seems like from what I've been reading that it's a T5 Drive-E issue after 10k miles. Software issue??

I also confirmed that it doesn't matter if ESC is on or off. Makes no difference at all :( I'm also using 93 octane.
"Video 1" is also my experience. VERY frustrating. I will attempt to record to show my dealership. Please let us know if anyone finds the problem/solution. (I will do the same)
Haven't noticed it on mine--am running Shell 89. Wonder if it is a normal fuel delivery sound, maybe injectors? Something to do with the intake/exhaust? Something to do with the torque converter? A relay clicking that's tied to some ECU monitoring system?

I think we have a pattern here. We all share the same engine and mileage (10K miles.) Maybe the software update caused it. I think the fuel pressure sensor was also part of the service campaign.
This has been happening to mine for a year and it's been to the dealer a few times with no resolution. I've been clear with my dealer that the sounds is NOT a ping, but a definite clicking sound. It does seem to be better with higher octane, but it does not completely eliminate the issue. I'd like to give non-ethanol gas a try but I have to go way out of my way to find it. It also seems to happen more frequently in ECO+.

If you can repeat this reliably, try doing it in eco, normal, and sport. Try to detect :

1) a change in frequency, maybe occurs less in sport, more in eco, etc.
2) a change in input conditions. For example, maybe in sport mode it doesn't happen until 4k rpms vs. 3k in normal and 2k in eco, etc.
Picking up my 2015.5 S60 today from the dealer for this very problem. They have told me that the only thing they did was to reload new TCM s/w. I'm sure it didn't fix it..., but I'll see.

My clicking occurred about a month ago and I have <12K miles on the car. It occurs mostly at approx 25-35 MPH with moderate to hard acceleration and also I've had it happen a couple of times at 50-60MPH. Hard to duplicate and if the car downshifts while attempting, it doesn't happen in my experience. Of course when I brought the car in I couldn't duplicate the problem to the dealer. I get anywhere from 3-4 loud rapid clicks to very faint single clicks. I've read where posts have indicated the possibility of the turbo waste gate creating the noise, and they could be right, but I'm thinking the noise is coming from the transaxle. To me the clicks sound like parts engaging (gear set clutch plates??), not like a valve banging at its stops. I certainly don't know where it's coming from, and maybe somebody can prove me wrong in me saying the tranny, but this is why I think so for my car. On two of the more than 2 dozen clicking events I've experienced, the car tranny was slipping slightly and stopped abruptly on the last click. The other reason is that I've had soooo many intermittent issues with this car's transmission - surges, bucking, delayed engagement on inclines declines & level ground, and lurches from auto start. They reload the TCM and it's good for another 2-3K miles. I'm so focused on the transmission problems that I just figured it was just another transmission issue when the clicking started. Hope I'm wrong...

I'll report back after I pick up the car...

I've had it occur in all 3 modes, but I haven't nailed down the RPM ranges. Mine are occurring just below 3k in the normal and eco. I'll see what happens in the sport mode.

Does anyone have experience with mounting a GoPro under the car and not frying it? Or some other audio recording source? I've just been hanging my iPhone out the window / inside the cabin. The sound seems like it's coming from the front / center / lower engine compartment area based upon observations in the driver / passenger seat.

Any luck?
Any luck?
I thought it was fixed, but nope - no luck at all, it still does it. One event today - three clicks, same scenario as before - approx 35MPH with moderate to hard acceleration. It seemed like it was harder to duplicate than before I brought it in because it took about a dozen attempts. Volvo repair order stated they performed TCM update and updated all available software. According to the Service Manager, nothing could be duplicated including my other transmission issues. Is the clicking transmission related? - don't know. They also told me they never heard of the clicking issue before. Surprisingly enough - all the issues I've brought before them they never heard of before...
A friend of my wife's has a 2015.5 S60, we've invited her down so I can test drive her car to compare my transmission quirks with her car. I'll add clicks to the list. Won't be for a few weeks, I'll keep you all posted if I find anything.

Ugh! Sorry to hear!! I had a similar instance where they thought they fixed it (and I did too!) but the next day it popped up again. I'm curious if you can make the other one do it. I thought of going to another dealership to test drive a new T5 Drive-E to see if I can make it happen. The saga continues.....
