Has anyone experience this issue? I have a 2015.5 S60 T5, when accelerating, I get this ticking/clicking noise for about a second or so. And it feels like its losing power. Usually occurs between 3k to 4K rpm. I feel like I don't get that quick torch. Any idea?

Does this stop when the engine is warmed up?
Also, keep in mind that if the ticking is picked up by the knock sensor (which is essentially a microphone) engine timing will be retarded as if you have engine knock. Even if that's not the cause.

I have only noticed the problem after the engine is warm.

Finally. I've been looking online for someone with the same problem! I have a 2015.5 V60 E-Drive. Same issue. Sometime it'll click 2-3 times, and sometimes only once. Happens a couple of times everyday. Usually along mid level acceleration. Sometimes going straight, sometimes right after a turn. You definitely lose power afterward. No codes are being logged, and it's not octane driven. In other words, it's not pinging. I have not taken mine in, because of the "were not able to repeat the problem" of new technicians who cannot find a problem without a code.
try this experiment : drive in sport mode. Guess that will only isolate... , but at least if you see it during manual shift, you'll know.... I'm spitballing here.... You'll have a data point!
even with using 93, I still have the clicking noise. I got the same response from volvo tech there was no fault code and they could not replicate the issue.
What's happening on the tachometer when this occurs?

Watch and see what the RPMs do if you can. If you're convinced something is really wrong, I'd hook up some sort of camera to (safely) record the dash (maybe suctioned to the sunroof) while you drive and see if you can capture the whole thing.
well, does it in sport mode too. tach stays put, but power drops
Should take it to the dealer and have the service writer or tech go for a ride with you in the car so you can replicate the problem for them. Most of these folks don't go looking for problems so if they drive it around the corner and it runs okay then it couldn't be replicated.

+1.....

I cant tell you how many times i've had to take service advisor on a ride to show them the issue.. Sometimes I think they take it for a spin in the parking lot and then just NTF it.. annoying.. Its dumb when they are like - "Oh wow I hear it now.. " Gee I drove more than a block, that's why.
The ticking could be your wastegate and the loss of power could be a loss of boost.

Wish these cars had a boost gauge.

Yeah, and you can make sure that the advisor takes out his earplugs!
I've noticed it in my 15 V60 Drive-E. It's too intermittent to take to dealer. It started happening after most recent ECU upgrade. Although, it hasn't happened in a week or so. It happened when engine was warming up, happened when engine was warm.
Waiting on Polestar Optimization tune to hopefully remedy.

That's what I think it is. But like SSurfer321 says, it's so intermittent right now, that I'd be lucky for it to happen at that point.

I had been using 87 octane in mine. New tank full of 93 and cooler outside temperatures and the symptoms have stopped. I'm assuming it was detonation due to high outside temps and low octane fuel and ECU not being able to keep up with timing retard.

Lucky. I ran 91 in 4 straight tank fulls.. still intermittently does it.
I think I finally heard this for myself today. In my case it was three short ticks in rapid succession right after rolling to ~75% throttle to pass someone. If the radio had been on I probably wouldn't have noticed. The engine responded just fine, though. Does that sound familiar to anyone? If so then I have to agree that it isn't pinging. The waste gate explanation is probably as good a guess as any.
After running 93 octane for a month, I only hear this once in a while and its only one "ping" with no lose of power.
I will never understand why someone would ever put regular gas in a forced induction engine. The manual states you can run on regular, but that premium is recommended. When in doubt go with the manufacturers recommendation.
All depends on how often you're running the turbo...
