I purchased my xc90 though the OSD program and took delivery last April. The car has 11,000 miles on it and since day one it's been burning oil. I'd taken it in many times complaining of this only to be told I wasn't checking my oil correctly (even when the check oil light was on and dipstick dry). Finally it caught up and the check engine light went on. The dealership ended up replacing the entire engine, called and said I could pick it up, I went in and didn't even make it off the lot and the light went back on. They kept the car another week and replaced the oil trap, called said it had been test driven and was ready (checking the mileage they had driven it about 25 miles). This time I made it about 5 miles away and the check engine light went back on. It's been at the dealer another week and I'm told they are changing the catalytic converter. At this point, to say the least, I really don't trust the car. And ideas or suggestions on where to go from here?

call volvo and check what can they do. A car can not leave the dealer without a full test to ensure the costumer that everything is done well, not just a round the block "test".

Wow, that is amazing. A whole new engine and you still have the low oil warning and low on oil!! Doesn't this sound as if there is another issue causing this warning light to come on? Expensive repair for Volvo by potentially haven given you a new engine for maybe no reason. The reason I am reacting is that an issue I am having with a whining sound has been that Volvo so far has replaced steering pump, steering fluid reservoir, rack & pinion, only to learn that by turning off air conditioning the whining stops. I am scheduled for a new airconditioning "pump" next week. I am not complaining about Volvo's dedication to fix my car, I am only questioning the fault tracing. Dealer is probably happy though....they get paid to do all this work while Volvo pays.

I really hope they find the root of your problem. It is a shame that an OSD experience is shadowed by a faulty vehicle.

It was the oil light to begin with, now the check engine light. They are certainly out a lot of $, the dealer that ignored the check oil light is not the one that has done all the work since, thankfully. I just am having a hard time getting my head around trusting this car when it has had this big of problems so early in its life (I planned on driving it for many many years)

I believe I would punt and tell them to keep it and get a different one. That just has bad news written all over it if you ask me.

Check for lemon law on your state. They got 3 strikes already.
