In looking through the 2010 OSD catalog, it shows the V70 R-design. Most have seen it, it looks great but was not for the US until now. However, it also mentions a Cranberry Leather interior as a custom build OSD option. Anyone seen that just yet? Here is a pic of the V70 R-design I saw waiting at the OSD center when I was there in March. It's exactly the way I would order mine, but I would have to see the Cranberry leather. I can't wait to order one.

Yes, the pics are horribly blurry. All well and good, (most of us have seen these) but until they have seats more like the Gen1 or P2s AND a MOTOR, that can get the car out of its own way not the anemic 3.2 NA engine!

Piece of protecto tape, not completely removed.
I have a pair of PRISTINE curb protectors (really, I do) that I removed off a classic several years ago if you want to buy them?
I'm not sure if they make them anymore!

Re: 2010 V70 R-Design (JRL)

Interested - I'll contact you off line.
Now those curb feelers as you call them did serve a purpose back then. I remember my mom praising them as my dad would get upset if the white walls got scuffed.
Oh! Yeah I have to admit the 2010 V70 R-Design with the cranberry leather is a sweet ride.
Edit change: "protectors" changed to "feelers".

I have to admit that JRL's old wagon looked nicer on the outside than the R-design. The new one is so generic.

The R-Design highlites are nice, but overall the design is meh. Compare:

The attempt to move away from the boxy design did not really work in my opinion. The curves that they substituted for lineswind up looking incomplete. The ascending line of the rear-quarter rocker panel pulls the car away from the road. I don't know what's going on with the curved transition between the tailgate and the bumper. The protruding nose that also has an ascending line turns into more of a duckbill than a convincing fascia. And they've begun sloping the upper portion of the tailgate a la the A4 which all reviewers agree substantially reduces the value of the cargo space. Admittedly it's not a hatchback yet, but why even start down that road.
Then to top it all off, the car that attempts to look fast has an engine that just will not move the car's bulk. They don't need to offer twin-turbo v-10's. A genuine 300 whp would suffice. I believe the T6 is capable of that. And I'd prefer a third-pedal, though I realize that's on the endangered species list in the industry. But certainly combined higher hp and mpg are not. See ecoboost, etc.
I know there are dire finances and every additional import option costs the company more $, but it really seems they allocated their resources many wrong places on this one.

Modified by pktojd at 11:11 AM 5-9-2009

Modified by pktojd at 11:12 AM 5-9-2009

Why doesn't your sig indicate any longer that you're working for Volvo (corporate)? Isn't this something SSers would want to know to understand your POV?
