2009 S80 (without BLIS) Outside Mirrors (Motor) Activation

FYI
According to the Volvo rep (who I spoke with today), 2009 S80 outside mirrors have a deactivated motor (we did not address earlier years). In Europe they have the motors activated to retrack the mirrors. At the dealer (parts) you must request the $30 software and pay service (labor cost) for activation.

Cool...thanks for the heads up! Will definitly check this out the next time I take in the car for service.
I wonder (not sure if this has been covered already) but maybe its the same for the light right above the door handle.
In Volvo UK they have a picture with that light on...looks pretty cool.
I have a 2008 MY UK S80. The mirrors retract when locking the car. There is also a ground light underneath them which is handy for seeing what you're stepping out into. The auto mirror retract is selectable under the car menu.

Th folding mirrors show up as an accessory on the Volvo page. One kit is listed for US LHD models. If you're interested it might be worth checking the part number with your parts department.
http://vccs.volvocars.se/acces...1.htm

I used to love this feature in my S60, but now that I've got PCC I almost never unlock the car (to activate the lights) until I pull on the door handle.

The power folding mirrors are not standard, nor were they installed in the 09's and not activated.
Actually, that doesn't even make sense. Why go to the trouble and expense of installing a feature like that and then not activate it??
There is a kit to add the power folding mechanism to the US cars.

Honda has made an art of this, you pick a trim level and there are almost zero options. It's cheaper for Volvo to spec one type of interior door panel for three different models and just not activate that cool little light on anything but the loaded S80s.
Sure wish I could get that software update, along with lowering all the windows from the remote (like my 2005 V50 did), being able to close the power tailgate from the remote or driver's seat switch, or any of the other cool little features that VCNA does not approve of for use in the USA.

Regardless, I know some member opened the door handle and found that there was a socket at the end of the plastic door handle lighting fixture in which an LED would go, but no wiring/lighting was present.

It was T6Tim. If I understood him correctly, there is a socket behind the diffuser for a LED. Here is the thread.
http://forums.swedespeed.com/z...age=2
Tim, did you ever get it working?
