What’s the difference?
Just thought it was interesting. The 2008 XC90 seemed to have a little more trouble with 3 wheels on rollers and 1 wheel on asphalt, with traction, than the 2018.

Haldex vs Borg Warner ?

One and the same... BorgWarner aquired Haldex in 2011 for a stake in AWD.

I find Volvo's AWD system too slow to transfer power to wheels with traction.

It keeps spinning wheels for gar too long before finally getting it right.

Why is it unlike other AWD cars like the inexpensive Subaru before we could even look at more its expensive competitors?

Well the Volvos did better than the Subarus in this video. The Forester comes in at 7:38 and can't complete the one-side-on-rollers test. It was followed by the old XC90, which aced it.

A simple "IF" statement can solve the computer software glitch to improve traction.

All Volvo needs is (From Old School coding):

"WHILE GEAR ENGAGED AND MONITORING WHEEL MOTION

IF WHEELSPIN AND (No Motion/ spin on any other wheel)

Transfer power to that motionless wheel

ELSE IF ALL WHEELS SPINNING

Override/ Disable Traction Control

ENDIF
END WHILE LOOP"

And they were old Volvos as well. Glad Subaru has finally caught up. Here's another great video on the XC90's <Traction Control at 8:05>. You have to look quick, but if you can catch it it's very impressive. It's every bit as good as X-Mode, if not better.

And actually in my old video and my new video, and also in your new video, the front wheels on rollers test, the Volvo front wheels spin much less than the Subaru before the back wheels push the cars forward off the rollers.
