Hi,
I've got a 2008 XC90 3.2 with 55k miles that I've owned for about 6 months and put 10k miles on. Occasionally, when I've been driving, and I park it, turn it off and come back to drive again a few minutes later, when I first shift it into reverse out of park, the car will make a noise from the front; kind of a "whirr" , or maybe something that sounds like a horn -think poorly-played trumpet.

It only lasts for a second, and is gone. There is also a vibration that can be felt in the steering wheel. I'm at a total loss at this point, but am terrified of transmission problems. Again, it only happens after I've shifted out of park into reverse.

Any thoughts on what it might be, or where to explore further?

Thanks.

I have 147k on my 04 2.5 and I've read it could be a gear in the throttle body? Mine happens after I start it, without moving out of park, so maybe it's a different problem. But it sounds like a trumpet kind of lol
