At this age, I would have it done. It’s only a few more minutes to swap once the rad hose is off, and you’d be cursing yourself if it goes a few months from now.

You can replace either just the thermostat itself or the thermostat and its housing, which is a bit quicker. I just finished a full replacement of all of my hoses two weeks ago on my ‘08, so decided to do the housing as well.

The thermostat housing is what will fail at this age. It’s made of a plastic composite and will start leaking. If you buy a genuine replacement part, it comes with a new thermostat already installed.

Its a good idea to do the thermostat while you're there. As mentioned, it is plastic. There's a chance it breaks when removing the hose that's being replaced. I always sell it at the same time as the hose.
