I took our 2006 XC-90 (V-8) in for the "transmission service" this past January. 55,000 miles at the time. The transmission is now slipping (that's what it feels like) when shifting from 1st to 2nd and getting progressively worse. The dealership also did the "software overwrite" as well though I was having no problems. The dealership laughed at me when I implied they may have something to do with this. And, after reading other posts here, they DO NOT want the customer knowing how to check the transmission fluid. How do I know if the proper fluid was used? I've also read that the valve body can be changed out much cheaper than a new transmission and it might fix my issue. Either or, 57,000 miles and I've got major issues.
