2006 Volvo XC90 Ocean Race V8 - Sirius Satellite Radio Solutions?

As the title states, I am posting here to see what my options are for adding Sirius Satellite Radio to my 2006 Volvo XC90 Ocean Race V8 AWD? Are there factory retrofit options without going the FM modulator route?

My particular model is equipped with the Premium Sound Dolby Pro Logic II audio system as well as the DVD system with the monitors in the headrests. I don't know if these options make any bit of difference regarding the answers I will receive, but I thought the more information you had, the better.

Please post up your solutions, install pictures, etc... http://********************/smile/emthup.gif

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Try the audio video forum, you'll get way more help.

I don't own an xc90 nor do I play someone who does on TV. The imiv only works with MELBUS vehicles and your entertainment system is MOST.

If on newer xc90's the sat ready is integral to the system then you're probably out of luck. If it is an accessory, and I think it is for MY 05+, I would think that it should work on your vehicle--try your favorite dealer.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no aftermarket solution yet for the XC90/MOST except for the Dension adapter which you can find more info about by google searching this forum for "dension" and "xc90." It was highly touted, I don't know if it has lived up to its expectations.

While MOST is highly standardized, its front end is closed off to the consumer and aftermarket for the most part.
Sorry. I keep forgetting to take pics.

But my solution was the Denison Gateway 500 unit, into which I plugged an external Sirius unit into the Aux input.

I used the discontinued Sirius Starbase because it has the smallest display I could find. I took apart the dash, removed the cubby thingy below the stock stereo, trimmed the trim just a bit, and installed the control unit there, with the base unit located under the driver's seat.

It turned out pretty slick, I think.

Oh, and the antenna I just slid up into the same panel of the rear roof where our stock antenna is located (under the plastic part of the roof).

Oh man, I totally forgot about this post. Some great options here, thanks guys.

Any pictures? Or any further thoughts/information? Let me know. Thanks!

Looks to be a new option for MOST fiber systems to get an aux input for satellite...cheaper than the Dension unit too...

Someone get it and it report back!
