Re: 2006 V70 2.5T extended warranty (Gunnering)

There are many opinions regarding the Volvo Increased Protection Plan. If you search the forum you'll find many discussions.

IF you decide to buy after reading the discussions, you should negotiate the price of the warranty while you are negotiating for the car...try to get them to knock 30% or so off the VIP price. In your forum search you will find that Yannis (and other Volvo dealers on the site) sell discounted warranties but I'm not sure they could sell to you in Canada. I would tell the dealer you've got another source willing to sell you the VIP at a significant discount and use that as a leverage point.

Search the forum and you'll find a lot of great info.

Good luck.

Re: 2006 V70 2.5T extended warranty (Gunnering)

If you are going to keep the car or if you do more then 20K km per year I would opt for it for the extra piece of mind. They should charge you about 500$ per extra year of protection, I think the max you can buy is up to three years and 160K km. You end up with 7 years and 160km.

It only takes one major repair to get your moneys worth! My wife's S70 had a small leak in the steering rack a few years ago, the repair cost 1400$ and all we paid was 50$
!!!

Hope this helps,
