Hello,
I'm considering either a 2006 s60R or V70R and I understand that there are lots of dealer incentives on both... I heard as much as $12K-$13K off MSRP on fully loaded models. Has anyone heard the same? The cars seem to be pretty well built and priced well vs. the competition. I've had a couple of Audis, a couple of Mercedes, a BMW, and a Saab in the past but never a Volvo. Though I read that heat can really affect the turbo in the R series. I live in the SF Bay Area so not really HOT but sometimes I might drive down to LA via the 5 Freeway blasting the A/C where the during the summer the temp can be 110 or so. Will this have major impact on the car.
Does this pricing sound right?
Thanks,
Ed

If you can get it with that discount, I'd say jump all over that. It's a GREAT price. You talking less than 35K???!
You may be seeing numbers for a LEASE car - their discount they apply. For purchase, if you can do it, you'd beat just about any price I've seen others pay on this site.

However, the money factor will be higher so the lease payment comes out pretty close regardless of who you choose. However, if you have any thought of possibly buying the car at lease end, take the cash and the lower residual.
The purchase incentives were around $4500 for a S if I remember correctly. The V incentives are typically less....if you can find one.

Re: 2006 S60R AND V70R pricing (ed94080)

I just purchased my 06 S60R loaded w/ factory body kit and all for $38k out the door. I think deals like this can still be had but it depends on how motivated the dealer is and how well you can negotiate. Good luck w/the purchase

But I'd drive an R in your area year-round in a heartbeat, excepting perhaps a really hot day in Napa.

Re: 2006 S60R AND V70R pricing (MightyQ)
Thanks for all the replies. To clarify, I was quoted $10K off of MSRP but I had read other people getting close to $13K off MSRP. I wanted to see if getting $12K-$13K off MSRP was possible. Btw, your S60R that was $38K out the door do you remember the MSRP on your car and what's the tax rate, etc. in your state?
Best,
Ed

That was with a sticker price of ~$43,000 I beleive. So that was a pretty big price drop. Brand new mind you.
I ended up buying a barely used (4k miles) Electric Silver 2006 GT with Premium package & 18" wheels for $38,000 out the door but it was a CPO so the 100k mile warranty was what made me get the slightly used.
I spent over a month searching and BS'ing with the damn dealerships cause they didn't really take me seriously unfortunately (24 year old wanting to buy a $40k car..they prolly laughed). Finally when it started to get to the point where I knew more about the car than the salespeople, I just got extremely blunt with them. If they didn't wanna work something out I'd walk straight out the door. Funny thing is that over half of them would call me within a day or two saying they had worked out a deal thats just within my budget. I always stuck with my guns and said "Call me when its WITHIN my budget."
Take the time to do your homework and talk with different dealerships. Summertime is always an excellent time to buy because it is typically the lowest point in car sales throughout the year if articles I've read are correct. Talk to a few dealerships, find the car you want, KNOW WHAT PRICE YOU'RE WILLING TO PAY, and then at the end of the month, TELL them what you want. Most likely they'll probably give it to you
