Re: 2006 S60 T5 6 speed for sale (JRL)

I finally just got to drive it on the road, WHAT A ROCKET! (I've never driven an 05-06 T5 6 speed)
Having owned and driven several R's I can honestly say this is as quick as a stock S60R, if it's not it's real damn close. Seat of the pants, I could not tell the difference.
When the mechanicals are done I will take it our on a full run and see...
It's a couple of hundred pounds lighter (than an R) and there's no parasitic AWD drivetrain loss!
This is one fun Volvo.
(Yes it has a bit of torque steer in 1st gear if you stomp on it, but otherwise I would probably take this over an R any day of the week)
Infinitely more reliable and in a way more fun to drive and.....
there are NO WHITE R'S!
If this were my car, I would paint these wheels that are on the car now white, add a very small rear spoiler (like an M3 spoiler) and that's would be it for the cosmetics.
As I said in my original post, if I hadn't bought that GTO, I would keep this in a heartbeat as a driver, much more fun to drive (minus the V8 growl and low end torque!)

Re: 2006 S60 T5 6 speed for sale (JRL)

Very nice, unique car at a good price. It's got the sport seats and six speed from the R but none of the 4C and AWD issues. If I was in the market for a sedan this would be on my short list. Good luck with the sale.

I saw this car - it may be nicer than Jim says it is If I had room and didn't need a wagon, I'd buy it in a second.

I know that there is supposed to be a 10hp boost, along with the cosmetics changes that appeared across all the S60s...but is an '05+ T5 manual really significantly better than the 01-04?
(I've driven my mom's '02 extensively, and am toying with trying to make the numbers work to get into a T5 myself)

Re: (JRL)

Same head and manifolds as an "R" with a smaller turbo and the more robust 2.4L block. If you're planning on doing any turbo swaps or major work, the T5 should be the motor-of-choice over the R's engine.
diablo, don't quote me, but I am pretty sure the car is still available. I'd suggest emailing Jim directly (found in his profile).

Re: (MagoonR)

The 05+ T5 does in fact use the KKK24 Turbo, R exhaust manifold, and a 2.4L block.
I recall Lucky saying that the 2.3/4/5T non-R motors actually have stronger blocks or cylinder walls than the 2.5T R motor.

Indeed it is a 2.4l I-5 with the smaller turbo. I know this because 2004 and older they were 2.3l I-5...they changed it to the 2.4l in 2005 and the R uses the same engine as the 2.5t but with kkk turbo and 2 intercoolers. I suggest u guys get it straight lol...no biggie though...this car is fast and looks immaculate...and 17k is a good price. This is exactly what I want...I will be on look out I'll message you for your number...where is this car currently located also?
