I have an S80 V8 with that transmission. I've had the occasional weirdness with the shifts, but nothing like my dad's previous 06 S60R had. I wonder if part of it has to do with how the transmissions shifts between the two cars. The S80 is very lazy.

I've got 06H for my S80 V8. I've got slippage that happens while it's cruising in gear at low engine load.

I'm figuring it's the valve body. A flush got me 8 months of perfectly fine functioning transmission, though.

Does anyone have any experience with having a VB done in a P3?

I'm guessing I'll have a hard time finding people with experience on this...

Just got my VIDA back up and working. Reading about replacing the VB.

The S80 V8 explaination is pretty basic. It's essentially "Remove airbox, drain transmission, disconnect cooler lines, remove panel, disconnect electrical connections paying attention to which one goes where, remove VB, install new VB, connect electrical lines, use sealer to reinstall cover, connect cooler lines, fill transmission"

No mention of the subframe. So just to make sure, I read up on it for the P2 chassis and it explicitly mentions dropping the subframe a bit. But the instructions are quite a bit more detailed on the P2. Less so on the P3.

Wow, kinda harsh there.

I've got symptoms that could easily be tied to the torque converter(which is different in the V8) and not the valve body.

So yeah, I don't feel enthused about replacing the VB and hoping for the best, and discovering that I still have problems.

I'm at like 110k

The shifts are rough-ish, from 1-2 and 2-3. But the real weirdness is slippage after gear changes. I can be cruising in 6th at a low engine speed, and I can watch the rpms climb and fall. Maybe it's all just the VB, but that sounds like it could be the TC to me.

I know that on the V8s, the TC is locked up nearly 100% for fuel economy. So it's different than the other engine options.

Yeah, mine does the same. It's not too bad. Except that sometimes, it shudders going up hill.

And after each gear change, as the car begins moving, it will slip once. Every time.

Something's definitely messed up. Totally driveable, I just don't know for how long.

I probably will wind up swapping the VB when it finally warms up again.

'08 V8

CarFax shows 8/31/07 for build date.

Transmission #07D

Torque converter symptoms - purchased it yesterday with 96k on it. It has a shudder at slower speeds (in gear, not during changes) when driving up a hill, and you can see the tach fluctuating by about 50-100 RPMs at steady throttle input.
I get that too.
