Re: 2005 V70R, salvage title in Philly (GiRaff3)

They are VERY strict when it comes to salvage inspections - the shop that did the work should be getting that done, not a 3rd party. All receipts are required and a LOT of documentation. Either they should be getting it done, or they should have been selling it as a parts car and they are fools...

Re: 2005 V70R, salvage title in Philly (AthruC)

I emailed them to find out. If it has an R title and was put back together reasonably well, the price is very OK. If it's a salvage certificate, well as you said, they should go thru the process to get an R title.
You're not allowed to sell a car with a salvage certificate so we'll see

It has a salvage CERTIFICATE and it's a PIA process to get an R title.
If successful, it still takes about 8 weeks to get a title.
TONS of paperwork

They are still worth something - just significantly less then a car with a clean title. I am always weary of cars that have had major hits (enough to total them especially), but that could also depend on the insurance company that they have at the time.
Regardless, the folks who did the work should be getting the change in title done, NOT the end-user as I had mentioned.

Wow i am really tempted, but i would want someone who really knows a lot more about it than me to look it over, it would be somewhat risky though but that fact that it only has 22k on it is very interesting

As others have said, the title needs to be squared away by the seller first.

Enough of this one (you shouldn't have posted this)
They're taking it to a (salvage) auction TOMORROW, I talked to the girl.
(and don't look at me, I'm heading to NY tomorrow she wanted me to come over today in the pouring rain, no less!).

right, well the 2005's ,if im not mistaken, had less issues. I would not really care about resale because i would drive it until it died or until i gave it to my little brother. As long as it was in fine condition and the frame/engine were good. But yeah i would definiately take it to them for a THOROUGH inspection

Doesnt matter how the car was wrecked.
It only matters how it was put back together.
Personally I dont buy someone elses wrecks that were put back together .
But I would of bought that car when it was wrecked and fixed and drove it.
