Hello,
This is my first post, hopefully I don't break any rules or repeat a topic that has already been discussed. I own a 2007 Volvo S60 AWD (barents blue) I also happen to own a body shop. Since I am not a body specialist I have been talking to my staff about updating my grill. Basically I want to get rid of the logo with the black box behind the emblem (its very dated looking) I like the new free standing logo thats on cars from about 2011 and up. The easiest answer is to just buy a new car, however, I can't stand the interior's on the new volvo s60. So we came up with 4 options, all of which are extremely labor intensive, so I'm reaching out to the group to see if anyone has some ideas/thoughts etc that we may have overlooked.

Option 1. take the bumper of a 2007 S60 and a 2011 S80 and cut them up and insert the grill surround from the s80 into the s60 bumper - reinforce and feather and pray that it will come close to looking ok. - Concern - width and height of the s80 grill surround may not be able to squeeze into s60 bumper and even if it does it may look odd having that large of a grill.

Option 2. take the bumper of a 2007 S60 and a 2011/12 S60 and cut them up and insert the grill surround from the 11/12 S60 into the 07 S60 bumper - reinforce and feather as above. - Concern - angles from 11/12 s60 vs angles of 07 s60 may be too different as the 07 s60 front bumper is very very flat. Also 11/12 s60 grill has angles to compliment bumper/body that dont match the 07 s60 lines. - thus option 1 seems easier.

Option 3. take only the grill of a 2011 S80 and the grill of a 2007 S60 and cut them up and try to embed the slats and emblem and angle bar from the s80 into the s60 - concern - spacing for the larger s80 grill may just not work or if it does it probably wont look right. Also the angled chrome bars will probably be too long and therefore they will need to be cut which is a new can of worms.

Option 4. mesh the grill and just stick a new larger emblem in it without the angle bars. - I hate this option more than I hate the interior of the new S60.

If you have any other ideas, experiences or suggestions please share. I've got to be overlooking something. Thanks in advance.

You Sir are really over thinking this big time....

Options for a new look are a lot easier than your first 3 thoughts.

Google search = I found this - just a photo shop but could be cool http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?133797-Tired-of-the-crappy-body-kits.-Check-this-out!

Get a plain egg crate grill (Viva) and slap a newer emblem on it.

IPD mesh - Paint to match body color ?

Maybe you could remove the egg crate and insert some Honey Comb ? (I have not seen that on a Volvo yet)

Something off a truck should be big enough to cut down -

How about a body kit or front end?

Or just go nuts and have your guys fab something up that is totally different -
Would love to see what you come up with.

I thought about the blank grills but, I own a company that builds high end custom performance vehicles, I would never be satisfied with just sticking an emblem in a grill without it having a perfect finished look. The pictures are amazing, I think we will try to build a bumper close to the photo shop using an S40 and S60 bumper.

That would be unique for sure -
How about a link to your companies web site and or some pictures of your custom performance work?

Hey Volvo4spot - What's shaking with the grill?
What's your companies web site? - or maybe post some pictures of some of your work.
The guys on this forum would love it.
