I just recently bought a used 2004 Volvo Xc90 and i'm having some issues with it.

1. My sunroof is leaking and i read that theres a tube that connects on the right pillar and there is a puddle on the passenger side of the car. I vacuumed the water out but i keep hearing sloshing sounds. Any idea what i should do with that? I feel like it under the carpet.

2. My car is making a ticking noise when i drive and i can hear it through the front driver side and when i brake, it sounds like its a knocking sound.

Please help me out with what i should do.

Sunroof leak. Sloshing. Bummer.

Pull the passenger side carpet up and get the water out from underneath as soon as you possible can and let it dry fully. If you're super lucky, there's no real damage to anything electrical. Do a search on the internet for Volvo XC90 sunroof leaks, might be some good hints as the best way to do this as well as how to repair the drains so it does not occur again. Can also do some poking around, many others have had this issue before and there may still be a residual class action lawsuit still out there to leverage in the event it gets bad.

But first thing, get the carpet up, get the water out, get it dried out, fix the drain (or hose or elbow or whatever it is that's broken) and hope for the best.

Someone else can comment about the ticking. I might have a look at the axle and CV joints as a start.

Hi all. I have a 2007 xc90 v8. We have only had it a month now. Saw its first downpour today and now the sun shade is saturated. Have yet to check the drains but noticed water leaking past the seal at the front and the back. Wouldn't have thaught this to be normal. The seals are soft and flexable still. Any thaughts.

I had a chance to check the drains latter that night and found them both partially blocked with pine needles. More importantly the drivers side was squished flat from the last numb nut who was in there as they didn't clip the tube into position correctly and it was pinched in the trimming when the bolts were done up.
As a result the sun shade is all stained red from the aged under felt. Any detail on how to remove and replace this would be great.
