I have a 2004 S60R (automatic sadly) with about 120,000 miles and I had to replace my MAF sensor about 2 months ago. I replaced it with the Bosch MAF sensor, and the other day I replaced my strut bar mounts and my upper engine mount. Later that night, after driving multiple times, I gave some heavy acceleration and heard a pop like a vacuum hose popped off and lost all boost. I checked and my charge pipe came off (just didn't tighten the clamp enough) but it now stutters when turned on and will sometimes die. Immediately after, I checked every vacuum hose assuming it was something besides the new MAF sensor. Everything seemed fine, so then I unplugged the MAF sensor and it ran fine with no stutter, so I cleaned the MAF sensor, but to no avail, still have the stuttering. No codes have been thrown and the fact that the MAF sensor is only 2 months old makes me think it might be something else. Has anyone else had problems with the Bosch MAF sensor?

If the sensor was working well only up until the intake ducting popped off then I think it's more likely that there's still something not right with your intake ducting rather than the brand new MAF being defective.

Also may be worth it to double check that you have the correct part number in VIDA or with volvopartswebstore.

There isn't a problem using the Bosch branded MAF vs Volvo as long as you have the correct part number, they're the same thing.

I actually did double check through VIDA that I had the right part when I got it, and then double checked it once it went bad. I'll need to check my intake and such again, but that was what I thought might be wrong with it initially and couldn't find anything obvious. My intake is not necessarily new, but I got mine from IPD and was put on around at around 60-70,000 miles and with the MAF unplugged the car runs fine. I was shocked when it ran fine with the MAF unplugged because I don't hear these being bad, unless (like you said) it was the wrong part. I'll need to do a more thorough search on my intake today, but thanks for the advice

I think I got 120k miles on my mag before needing to replace it so yeah it’s strange.

You could try ordering one from fcpeuro for testing? They have a good return policy.

Also did you try a hard reset, like having the ecu start from scratch to relearn?
