Since I decided not to sell my s40. I want to do straight pipe for track days. I will put cat on welded clips for wmmissions. So my question is. Removing a cat, will it cause cel to go on?

Yup, the rear O2 will see the absence of the cat....space the rear O2 out of the exhaust stream to fix this.

They sell spacers, or you can make them.. It takes the o2 sensor out of the air flow so that it can't sense the pollution you're spewing into the atmosphere.

Just have the cat deleted with a tune and you won't have any problems.

A stock S40 wouldn't be much fun on the track anyway.
Agreed. Need about 100HP more plus brakes, suspension and tires just to keep out of everyones way. That being said, a T5 can be competitive. I pulled on a new STI at 120MPH at the track in my wagon. Although, the only thing stock on it is the turbo and exhaust..... I really need some time to change that out :(
