That interior is SOOOOOOOOOO incredible.
Also love the way the headlights have a slight menacing curl up at the side/back.
Overall great design, but it reminds me a bit too much of the new bmw 3 series (not the front of course, but the rest of it).

I don't know how it drives, but just based on looks, if I now had to make the decision I made one year ago, the S60 might not be sitting in my garage.

Why is it that when GM has filet mignon on the menu, they try to keep serving us hot dogs. Saab should be the standard that all GM vehicles should adhere to, in terms of interior and exterior design, build quality, safety and preformance.

Oh man, my family use to be strictly Central European car owners. I thank them of giving me something in the North. And this Saab only makes me want another Swede car.

Very nice...very European flavored, but with some hint of American styling(not a bad thing sometimes). And the interior is just by far the best I've seen on a Saab...
What happened to GM all the sudden? They now realize they shouldn't make their European brand name cars with same built quality as their American brand ones?

I also love that saab stuck to it's guns on keeping the ignition in the center console, i mean that traces back a long time and would just destroy some of the charm if it were up on the steering wheel stem.
Also dig the way the seats have the lighter colored inserts to mimic the metal in the dash/doors/console etc.. very fluid.

Wow! I totally dig the red! Great looking car, can't wait to see it in person. I wonder if the ignition is still by the shifter. I never could get used to that.

The exterior although very nice, is not unique. From certain angles, the rear looks like a Passat and certainly the car looks too much like an Opel Calibra or very "Opelish" rather than a Saab. The interior os very nice although a bit too busy for me (most Saab dashes are way too busy anyway). But much better looking car than past 900/9-3 models.
Yannis

The design (both inside and out) is clearly superior to that of the S60. And certainly the S80. The fact its not as eccentric as prior Saabs, yet still "Saab-ish" will not only attract new buyers, but please loyalists. Though I notice all the photos are of sedans, will there be a 5-door hatchback version? Clearly, the dash (described by Yannis as being "too busy") hits the ergonomic bullseye. The S60 should aspire to such heights. The Saab 9-5 has possibly the best designed dash I have ever seen. I suspect Yannis' comment is rooted in "Volvo zealotry," the kind that keeps us buying the cars, no matter how disappointing they are.

I remember reading that the hatchback might come later.
It seems as if you registered to launch an attack on the S60 and Yannis. Too bad since most of the posts in this topic had mostly good things to say about the Saab.

quote:
Originally posted by Ari:
The design (both inside and out) is clearly superior to that of the S60. Here are some more pics. I really like the picture of the black one from the front left corner.
http://www.edmunds.com/future/2003/saab/93/4drsedan/photos.html

overall i'd have to say i like this design a lot. interior and exterior.

my only dislikes: looks too much like a Chevy Impala. Could do without the black door handles and trim.
also, i personally would remove the badge from the hood.
one last thing... the rear end leaves A LOT to be desired.
BTW, new ignition is VERY cool
oh, and ARI... if this SAAB sports the best DASH you have ever seen - i suggest you take a good look around. you'd probably need the sunshine

I did not say that Saab sports the best dash design I've seen, only that the their 9-5 model has one of the best, excluding their outgoing 9-3.
Who would you suggest designs a better, more ergonomnic and intuitive dash? The only other possibly contender I can think of is Audi.

I am not sure why the picture post failed. It can be viewed at: http://www.whirlwind.nl/%7Esaabcars/NewSaabGallery/5_1.htm
