2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6
I am almost scared to admit it, but I really like this car. I think that it looks pretty nice inside and out. For about $20k you can get a fully loaded GT V6 with a 181hp V6, 6-speed manual transmission, Recaro designed leather seats, 360 watt Infiniti sound system, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog-lights, side airbags, and power windows/mirrors/door-locks. Plus it has a 10-year warranty to boot!

-Drew

I agree it looks very nice. I've been reading about how Hyundai cars are the most underrated in the business now. They've been improving significantly. Remember that in the 70's companies like Honda were viewed as making inferior cars.
How can you tell its RWD from the pictures?

No offense, but I seriously think their strategy is only to copy other cars' design cues, and try to 'fit in.' In a way, that makes the car a bit lack of personality. Take the new SC430 for example.....

How? Well, I thought the engine cover 'design' was supposedly meant to show that the engine is mounted. But I guess the car is still has a transversal mount engine if it's actually FWD.

[This message has been edited by The_one_n_only (edited 02-11-2002).]

I just drove a Hyundai Elantra 5spd a few days ago (not by choice). Wow, what a POS! This one had 109K, so maybe it's at the end of its useful life. The clutch engagement was very rough and noisey in 1st and 2nd gear, the shifter was sloppy, and sometimes the tranny clunked when I put it in gear. The suspension made some loud noises too, primarily on deceleration and over any bumps. The steering felt stiff when it was turned in either direction from center, and the seats weren't very good. Despite having dual airbags, the car didn't feel very safe. I'd never buy a cheap car like a Hyundai when a quality used car could be so much more enjoyable.

I have never seen a longitudinally mounted engine with the intake in the back (Except Ferrari, which puts the whole engine in the back ).

Hey guys, I went to Hyundai the other night, to go look at that new one, the Nubira... I think that's the one, because it looks really nice, and elegant (imo), but it's a POS... and costs $28k!!! For a Hyundai...
Anyways, I saw the new Tiburon, and it has the maranello back end... I was talking to the guy, and he told me that he could chirp 4th!!! gear in the v6 model. Not to mention, the v6 was pushing 240 hp... haha, talk about misinformed.
I asked him for a test drive, I could chirp 1st, barely 2nd, and 3rd if I popped it at about 3000RPMs. Well, he told me if I tried 4th gear at around 4000RPMs, I could chirp it... well, NO SH!*. Anyone can, anyways... this car is a POS on the interior, and the engine sounds tinny as hell.

This isn't a bad looking car - I'm really impressed with the latest Hyundai offerings. They are really climbing the quality ladder.
I drove a Scoupe Turbo back in my recon days, and, while it was obviously a bargain-bin car, it had more personality than a Civic or Tercel.

I am guilty!! I have to admit, it does look decent and paperwise, it is impressive. Fortunately, for cars, you have to sit your butt in 'em first and take it for a spin or two to really get the feel of it.
I guess this can make a good beat up car...like something for those who use park'n rides?!
Ray
'01 S40
