2003 Honda Accord
Here it is, the first official pictures of the 2003 Honda Accord and Accord Coupe. The interior looks really great/functional IMHO, but the exterior is just terribly bland! The front looks decent but the back, what's up with those tail-lights?
The new 3.0 liter V6 makes 240hp/212lb.ft and the 2.4 liter I4 makes 160hp/161lb.ft.
Thanks to VTEC.Net for these pics:

-Drew

Did Mercedes not have enough tail lights in the parts bin to do both the 2-door & 4-door?
Actually these photos look better than the spy pics but the front is very civic now. I think that is a mistake unless they are reducing the price...

I can say that the interior is probably the best looking in its class (Camry, Altima) and I'm sure the quality of the materials will be better than the Altima as well. Nice to see the horsepower numbers, I think they did a great job in responding to the challenge issued by Nissan. Personally, I don't think that Mazda will be able to respond with the new 6 because their 6-cylinder is the Ford Duratec. Also, Toyota is too conservative to respond to those numbers as well.
I think this car will also feel more solid that the Altima and will be more refined. The Altima has the looks and power but is one generation away from the refinement.
The coupe is not bad looking but I am not certain if they were trying to copy the C70 or the CLK. Perhaps someone at Honda can clarify that.
The sedan looks bland (but it will sell over 400,000 units per annum). The front is OK, but the rear end reminds me of something from the Japanese market, its very univentive. I think the Camry's rear end is better.
Anyway, I hope that they offer both sedan and coupe and both engines with Honda's smooth shifting manual.

Some critics say the mill isn't refined, but other than that, what is wrong with it? Aside from the fact that Mazdas are haven't for the most part ever been about sheer horsepower numbers (the '6 should have around 220hp, or more), but about driving satisfaction (RX-7, MX-3, MX-5, etc), not sedative driving dynamics.
If Honda put wheels and an 'H' on a meadow muffin, it'd be a market leading seller... Honda mentality, meh.
[/rant]
The new Accord is fugly, and bears an uncanny resemblance to the new Camry. What happened to creativity?
[This message has been edited by javadoc (edited 07-31-2002).]

Second, it may surprise you to find out that if had had to choose between the Camry, Accord, Altima and 6, I would choose 6. What I am saying is that Ford's powerplants have never been as smooth and refined as its Japanese competitors. They do not have not shown the engineering capability to meet the challenges of the Japanese or Germans. I don't think the Duratec is as good as the Honda or the Nissan engine. Why not put the "Mill" from the Millenia in the car to differentiate themselves and remove the Ford association.

front end is altima (esp on the coupe), and the tail is all mercedes-benz. as for the new V6, it is an improvement, but without the almighty TQ it'll still fall short of the altima's performance.
