Hey dont you guys know your mustang history. Mach was a name they used for there earlier muscle car performance deals. Its a retro thing, notice all the retro stuff. No way the car is doing 300 mph, is that what the dash said, I cant tell, if you thought thats what mach 1 is, I believe its a bit faster than that. Try around 750 mph.

Remember, this car was designed with drag racing and road racing in mind, not Autobahn cruising like the European cars. The 99+ Mustang GT has a top speed of 143, and I highly doubt most Volvos can hit 160. Heck, even if the car could do it, where would you ever go 150-160 in a country where the highest speed limit is 65 or 70, depending on your state.<P>Retro is EXACTLY what they're going for here. The Mustang's redesign in '99 was designed to bring back some of the original look. Team Mustang made the Bullitt (which turned out to be a big hit) last year, now it's the Mach I. One of the big things here is the functional "shaker" hood scoop.<P>The Mach I will be offered with the 4.6-liter DOHC engine that was used in the '99 and '01 SVT Cobra models, putting out 320hp and 317ft-lbs. From my understanding, it will be offered with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, this is the first time that the DOHC engine will be offered with an auto. It also retains the live rear axle from the GT as opposed to the IRS from the '99 and '01 Cobras. The DOHC/live axle combo has been long awaited by drag racers.<P>Personally, I like this color combo better. Have you guys seen the artist's impression of the next Mustang in Automobile Magazine. It doesn't look all that aerodynamic, but at the same time, it totally captures the essence of the older mustangs.

Not to bad.Like the shaker hood scoop,dont particularly like the wheel's.Hopefully there will be more then just that color combination.Interior o.k look's a little cheap.Seat's look decent but remeber it's still a mustang,outdated chassis,poor ride quality,but I bet it's quick.<P>BigMike<BR>2002 S60 2.4T Cosmos Blue,Premium Pkg,17-Inch Tethy's wheel's.

Have you ever driven or rode in a '99+ Mustang GT, especially one with the leather option? Sure the chassis is unchanged since 1979, but it's tried and true. The ride quality is not bad at all with the stock suspension setup. No, it's not going to ride like an S60, but people who are in the market for a Mustang will not be looking at Volvos. My parent's cars ride so smooth I get this completely disconnected feeling when I drive them. The 2004 Mustang will be based on a shortened DEW (Lincoln LS/Jaguar S-type) RWD platform. Motor trend published this hideous picture. The 2001 Bullitt style wheels and copper color were photoshopped on but you get the idea. Yeah, that baby DEW platform should be cool. The last pic of the stang is the one that was in Automobile.
