2003 Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition
Nice color! Too bad it doesn't have the Z-06 drive-train though.

-Drew
Personally, I'd rather have a droptop Vette than a hardtop Z06. Especially in that beautiful color. The LS6 is a great engine, but nothing a modded LS1 can't handle

Any idea what the 50th Anneversary package has besides the badging and (I'm assuming) special colors?

My friends dad works on corvettes as a second job/hobby. I believe he has a 99 vette. He paid some cash to be on the waiting list for the 50th anniversary vettes and he was pissed when he saw that they only added one(I think) color.

no offense meant,
even though the vettes are great rocket-cars, i just can't stand them, they're too plasticy for my taste and they are just too American, there's nothing redeemable about them except for their power output, i enjoy seeing an E36 M3 more than a corvette, they're just mushy in my mind.

Rumors abound of course but most say it will be a 400ci.
BTW, a fellow in the Bel Air (MD) Corvette Club has the twin turbo 427 Linger showcased on their web site. According to the time slip it ran in the 9s. Basically a C5R motor.
As for the Vette Vs M3 thing, I never understood it. Two totally different cars but don't knock the C5 unless you have driven one, especially the Z06. It is a world class sports car that will run with just about anything for $50K.
Peace.

I agree, it's like comparing apples to oranges.
For $50k, the Z06 can run with exotics that cost more than twice as much. What's more, the Vette still uses a pushrod V8 with a design that dates back something like 40 years (possibly even more), while the new exotics (Ferrari, etc) use high-tech DOHC engines with fancy valve timing and whatever else.

I agree with you guys that the corvette is a performance machine. And what it does it does well, i'm just saying that Chevy should take some time and put some more effort into the interior of these cars, visceral thrills are great, but i'd be embarrassed to show my girlfriend the interior of my Vette if i had one. That's all, i agree they are beasts on the road.
