No 4c, no awd, and he didn't even do any performance mods?? Not a t5 "R" in the least!! An iPod dongle does not an R make :D

Doesn't Volvo say 120k for timing belts on their list? I'm doing mine at 90k just to be sure :D

You need to go find them and teach them a lesson...

It's 105k. And it really should be done much earlier--Volvo seems to have placed it outside of the 100k mark as to make maintenance appear cheaper before then, since the basic design hasn't changed from older Volvos which required timing belt replacement at 75k.

Maybe the seller just did his 2nd timing belt?? [Obviously no way to tell, but here's hoping he was not a complete buffoon on maintenance...]

Volvo went to 120K belt change in 2004.
Very few people wait that long but that's the official mileage to replace it.
Some of the newer cars are at 150K (I believe)!

Could it be that the tech behind belt manufacture has improved so much that it's ok? I know tires and synthetic oils have improved a lot over the years...

Belts rarely fail. (I'm not saying they never do, but that's not the problem).
The tensioners collapse and I don't think there's been any change in the manufacture process or materials of those.

i would have expected a change in tensioners.

I'm not worried about belts snapping as much as tensioner grenading thus making belt condition irrelevant.

But it has PEGS!!
Must be true R.

I love:
s60 T5-R rare sport package
just purchased another s60 t5 that has 6 speed manual transmission
Hmmmm...I thought that the printing on the spaceball console proved his current car has a 6MT.

Reminds me of the kid here in town running around with the debadged S60... it looks pretty nice... but definitely not an R... you should have seen him turn that funny green shade when we rolled up to the 4 way stop at the same time... PRICELESS.

Yeah, don't think he wants to hook up for a run...

Careful what you say, my 2008 2.5T Stage II with a 16T turbo at 16 psi was faster than a stock R. Coming from owning another modified Volvo I have respect for every one I see.

He may just give you a run for your money ;)
