I am sure some of you have read this thing by now. It came out yesterday, and Volvo was reported to be the most improved brand of all. Not too bad considering Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura are known for superlative quality. Those are three good companies to be close to.

1. Lexus
2. Infiniti & Acura (Tie)
3. BMW
4. Porsche
5. Volvo

In the Mid-Luxury car segment, the Lexus GS430/300 was 1st and the Volvo S80 came in 2nd place. It beat cars like the 5-series, A6-range, and E-class for quality.

Overall (not individual brands)for some reason, VAG (VW & Audi) came in 10th place and Ford (all brands together) came in 7th.

And here are the initial quality JD Powers results. Volvo moved from 22nd place to 5th, beating all other European companies, only 2 points behind Toyota.

Hmm...anyone look at the whole list?

I'm trying to figure out how Infiniti finished 2nd and Nissan 28th tied with Hyundai!!

Isn't Infiniti's relationship with Nissan similar to Acura w/ Honda or Lexus w/ Toyotas?

Yes, it is. Infiniti has always been on top, but for some strange reason Nissan doesn't seem to do so well. I have no clue why...

I thought that was strange that Toyota/Lexus and Honda/Acura were a few spots apart went Infiniti and Nissan were so far apart. It would make sence that the higher price cars would be better built. But 26 places apart really bothered me. Here is my best guess/theory. I think that Infiniti is still made in Japan, where as Nissan are made in US and Mexico. So I think that US models of Nissan would have the quality of other domestic cars, which unfortunatly are crap.

Not to argue with you, but aren't most of the Honda and Toyota cars made in the US too. Heck, the TL's of Acura are made in O-hi-O!

I don't know Toyotas but for Honda not all of them, but certian models are, made in the US. I know that the CL was designed and built in the US.
