I have a 2001 Volvo V70, the mileage is at about 80,000 miles and the transmission warning lights and check engine lights are on. I was just wondering how long do I have before it needs to be replaced. The car accelerates fine under 25 miles an hour then it gets a little rough and jumps in acceleration then pulls back as it's trying to pass that mark. You think it's going to stall. I'm just wondering if it's just a minor service or if it needs a whole new transmission.

Re: 2001 Volvo V70 Transmission problems? (beachroad)

beachroad............
I think it may be time to visit a local Volvo dealer!!!! It could be something as simple as a software issue...or it may be a little more complicated...but 80k is nothing for a Volvo trans! I WOULD NOT KEEP DRIVING IT! The trans/check engine lights are there for a good reason! Have it looked at..ASAP!

Sadley Bob you are reading it right, like I am as well. It is amazing sometimes the things that go on before being looked at. In this case the Trans Warning and Check Eng light seemed to mean nothing till the trans now has a major failure on the way. Shifting funny back months ago might fly with one blinking trans light. But now the over 25mph it goes way weird stuff, is jsut plain and simple one flew over the cockoo's nest negelect. On the bright side you at your Volvo dealers Bob are not the only ones that have this type. Trust me when I tell you BMW has jsut as many non practiceing brain sturgens as you do.

Trust me when I tell you BMW has just as many non practiceing brain sturgens as you do.

Ohhh...I am well aware! I was an F&I mgr at a BMW store in the early 80's.....it hasn't changed much! The cars have.....but the attitude hasn't! It happens at Benz/Lexus/Audi and other highline stores too!
I try to tell my customers at delivery to keep accurate service records and to callme if they have any questions....in a situation like this...I would have referred "beachroad" to a service advisor a long time ago!
