Re: 2001 Volvo S60 T5 (MagoonR)

I hope I find someone who isn't quite right with deeper pockets.
I still have the original window sticker. Suggested retail in spring 2001 was $38,375. I'm the 2nd owner so I don't know what the actual sale price was. I am hoping to get around 1/2 that amount. I would also consider a partial trade with a $3000-$5000 Volvo sedan or wagon. I only drive the car to work and back 7 miles round trip. I really don't need a car this nice We use my wifes Volvo XC70 (family hauler) on the weekends.
MSRP is generally irrelevant and Volvos depreciate hard; especially when new S60's carry generous incentives. You'll be hard pressed to find any car with a 5 year residual of 50%. But then again, there's a sucker born every minute and you may find him......but I would doubt on this board.
Good luck.

I agree with Magoon and JRL. I paid half sticker for a 3-year old Saab 9-3 SE Turbo convertible in showroom condition with 20K miles. Even with the TME & IPD mods I doubt you'll get $19K for a 5-6 year old car. If it wasn't silver I might be interested.

For comparison purposes Performance Motoring in Hadley, MA has a 2002 C70 5-speed with 86K miles that they're asking $17K for. This car is a rare beast and they may get somewhere near their asking price from the right buyer. Your car is not in the 'rare' category although it hs low miles and sounds like you're taking good care of it. How many miles were on the clock when you bought it?

Don't over-react Jim.... I noted that I'm not interested in a silver car and you know I prefer the S70/C70 anyway...
Tim

Re: 2001 Volvo S60 T5 (JRL)

Well, if you do a search on Autotrader right now you can count less than a dozen C70s of any type with a manual transmission (most are convertibles). According to Edmunds.com a C70 HPT coupe with 86K in 'clean' condition (I think the car is borderline 'outstanding' condition) average retail is $16.5K (dealership asking $16,995.00). Kelly BB average retail for this car in 'Excellent" condition is $18.4K. The NADA retail value for the car (which as a dealer you'd be more apt to use) is $18.2K.

Retail and KBB mean nothing with this car.
I sold my 7 month old S60 T5 6spd for $24,500. New Retail was 32k or 33k (hell I cant remember now), and KBB private party was over $29,000 USED when I sold it. It had 11k on the odometer.

Re: (iibbmm)

Which car? The C70 I'm talking about above or the 2001 S60 T5 at the top of the thread??? Obviously, any car is only worth what someone is willing to pay (and how long the seller is willing to hold out).

Re: 2001 Volvo S60 T5 (volvdog)

I purchased the car from Performance Motoring Inc. in September 2004 with 20,000 miles. I know the owner well. He has a relative who had test driven my car last week but, she is unable to make a purchase at this time. I'm not in any need to sell it. I actually purchased, maintained, and loved this car with the intent of driving it for a very long time. Unfortunately it only gets driven to work and back(7 mile round trip). We use the family hauler(Volvo XC70) on the weekends. My wife says she will get me a R when she finishes school in two years.
BTW the C70 at Performance Motoring is a sweet looking car!

Re: 2001 Volvo S60 T5 (Think Fast)

I know how that is. I have a 98 Volvo S70 T5 5-speed that I purchased new in 1997. It has just over 49K miles on it because my commute to work is even shorter than yours. I just invested $3500 in that car to have Performance Motoring (great Volvo shop!) install a bunch of mods (IPD, EST, etc.) as well as a bunch of regular maintenance stuff. My oldest will be taking that car to Virginia with him next month so its low mileage days are over.
