I have a 2001 S60 2.4t fwd that will start up, rev up to 2,000 rpm, then will just stall. If I give it gas, it will rev up to 4,000 rpm and will stall. If I keep starting and revving it, eventually it will hold its revs and will be able to drive. It will then idle okay and have all its power when driving. But if I shut it off, I have a hard time restarting it. What could this be? The cranking times are normal, which is why I don't believe it is a crankshaft sensor. When the crankshaft sensor went bad on my 2006 S60, the car took 10 seconds of cranking to start. Then it would stall when put in gear. However, this 2001 S60 takes 3 seconds to start, starts well, then just dies.

Check FPS. Filter clean? No smell of gas (pump issue)?

It turns out that the charge pipe that connects to the throttle body got loose. I couldn't see that in the dark, but was able to spot that when the sun came up. It is funny how the car could still drive with decent power with the loose pipe. It was just hard to start.
