We thought it was a head gasket, and the head passed the pressure test, but when it gets hot we have the same problem. We've arrived at the conclusion that the head has a hairline crack that manifests itself only once it heats up. :facepalm: The Volvo guru working on the car is pulling the head back off tonight to see if he can find any telltale signs of the fault from last night's test start-up.

So, the search commences for a head, or someone willing to separate a head from a turbo engine. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I should start?

Who doesnt need head ....

We found a GLT motor, complete. Better mileage than on my R by a good 70k. And since my mechanic is not convinced the problem isn't actually in the block, I think we are going to do the swap.
