Car: 1998 V70
Goal: remove SC-813 and install aftermarket single-DIN unit
Question 1: Is this the correct wire harness adapter?
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-J...09220
Question 2: Is this the correct dash pocket?
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-J...89000
Question 3: Are the better quality/fit dash kits for this model + year? Reviews aren't stellar, and I seem to remember seeing someone here order one through their dealer?
Bonus Question: I will look it up again on this forum, but anyone want to give me a freebie and walk me through sequence of disconnecting battery, removing old unit, etc. etc.?
PS - Crutchfield wont ship to Canada, so other retailers have been located for the adapter....but the dash fit kit is being a real bear. Also located..
from http://bestkits.com/MetraXRef2.pdf
Metra 98-9999 Best BKUPK750 Volvo pocket
Metra 88-00-9000 Best BKUPK750 For/Mazda/Nissan/Toyota/Volvo pocket
Opinions, suggestions......Thanks!

Here's a link with lots of great info:
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum...=7420
I also used a Metra single pocket to fill space when I had an aftermarket unit in my dash. It looked ok but not terrific. There is a Volvo pocket as well that you can get at the Dealer. I can't find the part number at the moment but they can look that up for you. It might look better.
As for harness adapters, that's the right one.

Fantastic, and thanks!
Just to be clear, that awesome guide appears to be for a 850; same steps apply?
This the pocket you were refering to?
http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum...82&hl=
If so, I am starting to gather that some parts that "fit" (i.e. look good/ match well) with the 850's also carried over to the S/V 70s...

someone can chime in if I'm wrong but 98 V70s are pretty much the same as 850s in many respects including this one I believe. I know mine looked this way and certainly all Volvo HUs require the same process from this generation to remove (very easy) so it should be the same wiring behind it.
As for the pocket. Yes, that's the thread I was looking for. Keep in mind that 850s have a dark black color trim inside vs V70s which are slightly grayer so there in lies the problem but you'll run into the same thing w/ the Metras b/c they are dark black.
