I'm new to this list, so if this question has been covered, please refer me to the previous area.
I recently purchased a 1997 850 with about 90,000 miles on it. It runs great with one exception--when the car starrts, it revs to about 1600 rpm for about 5 seconds, then falls to 1,000 rpm. It idles at about 1,000 thereafter.
It seems like the initial rev would be hard on an engine just developing oil pressure. Also 1,000 rpm seems like a high idle speed.
How is the idle speed set on this model short of replacing the idle air controller? The set-screw and the shaft in the linkage do not seem to be constraining the movement of the throttle linkage.
Much thanks in avance.
