OK I think I have a pretty good run down of my AC issues now. If anyone has any ideas on any or all of these, I would appreciate the advice. I am new to Volvos. I love this car but have a few things I need to fix soon.
1. When I turn left, a belt starts squeeling but only if the ac is on. The air also cuts out usually during a left turn. Right turns are no problem though. I am sure this is an easy one but not for me. But I have a Haynes so I can fix it if soneone knows what that is.
2. For the first time today (100 degrees) when I had the ac on, it looked like smoke was coming out of the ac vents. But I do not think it was smoke, more like fog as there was no smell and it came and went. Very strange.
3. Still have a pretty bad leak. When AC is on both front carpets get soaked within half an hour. I have taken the underside of the dash off but cannot seem to find a condensation drain hour to clean out and the water just seems to drip from the dash area on both sides.
4. Sometimes the driver side vents blow little or no air. It does it for a few days like that and then everything blows equally the next - very strange.
When the ac is on, after a while it sounds like a pool of water back behind the dash somewhere just gurgling away like air blowing on it or bubbling up.
Thank you for all of your advice and help. I am learning a lot here. Don

check/replace the belts. if it still squeaks, it sounds like you have a power steering pump issue.
so the smoke/fog and the soaked carpets...are you leaking antifreeze?
drivers side blowing only sometimes...does this model have motor controlled vents, or do you have a knob to switch them?
Re: 1994 850 Air conditioner issues (texasdon)

Welcome to the Vulva community Texasdon!! Sounds like you have the evap/heatercore issue that seems to be a common problem, along with the PNP switch, odometer gear, and some others as seen with the 850's. I am no seasoned mechanic or an experienced shade tree, just a full-time college student trying to survive, but I've been around for awhile reading around on these forums, primarily VS. So maybe someone else can chime in and guide you on how to narrow your path. Mine was leaking in the floor board and I replaced the heatercore, the mist/vapor in the vents I guess was antifreeze. It was not that big of a deal to replace and while I was in there I replaced the shift microswitch (also seems to be a common problem). These boards are an excellent resource and has saved me so much money and time. You just gotta love our "bricks" well sometime a love/hate relationship, but when its good. Search and Research others experiences, thats a biggy in these places. Search and read first then ask your questions! Can someone else help him out. Goodluck fellow Texan, do you have a Turbo? Let us now what you figure out.
