Hi there:

I hope someone out there can answer my questions. When I am stopped at a light or stop sign, I have noticed something vibrating underneath the car, towards the back and it is getting worse. I've observed the muffler and tail pipe vibrating when I've had the car in park. I'm going to take it to my mechanic soon, but I want to have a better idea of what it could be. Does this sound like a major problem?

Also, the battery gauge goes down when I put on the headlights and goes down drastically when the AC is turned on. My mechanic has tested the battery and says it's fine but I'm not convinced.

Any assistance from the experts in this forum will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Re: 1990 740 turbo intercooler wagon--strange vibrating under car/battery ga ... (mbz2006)

Welcome to Swedespeed, Morgan.

The rattle could be a loose heat guard (baffle) near the cat.

The battery may be ok but the alternator and/or its regulator hints at being faulty.

Thanks George!

That's information I can definitely use when I take the car in next week. Thanks again!
