Hello all,
I recently purchase an '88 740 for my younger brother to drive to school, after about 3 mths he complained of the clutch hard to engage in 1st and 2nd. Last week he had to have it towed because the clutch pedal went to the floor.
So I tore into it last weekend, and when I removed the trans (M47) and clutch plate, I found the friction disc in pieces. Hmmmm, that could be why he has a problem?
Does anyone know the torque specs for the clutch pressure plate, and also the tranny. I can torque them up tight, but I would rather go by the book (by the way which I cant seem to find locally). I have searched and heard 18ft/lbs for the pressure plate...is that correct?
cheers, Aaron
