Hi guys. So I've got a deposit on this car at the moment. But the work needed is most likely beyond anything I've ever done. link to car: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/nelson/1986-volvo-240-euro-model-wagon/1114268159?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true

The current owner said he tryed changing the plugs, wires and distributor cap. He thinks it might be a bad valve. Wondering what this entails? and how much realistically it will cost me to repair and get it back on the road.

Thanks for any advice at all! Much Appreciated!

. If indeed the plugs, wires, dist. cap, And rotor are good, And properly installed, Wires on the correct plugs etc. And the fuel injectors are all plugged in tightly. Then a compression test needs to be done to verify a valve or piston ring problem. If it fails compression test then its going to exceed the value of the car to repair, If its a valve or piston problem then you need to be a mechanic to tackle that. Are you sure its running on 3 cylinders ? Or is it just running really rough ?
