Does anyone have first hand experience mounting 18" wheels to thier V50 AWD without fender modifications? If so, what brand wheel and tire brand size combo did you use?
Thanks!

Stick with narrower wheels and tires(ie 225 width) and there won't be any problems.

I got my 18" medusas installed over the weekend with 225/40 R18 tires without any need for any mods or anything. I was upgrading from 17x7" Sagittas.

The Volvo site indicates that a software upgrade is required when upgrading wheel sizes. Is this correct?

That is, if your speedo says you're doing 58.7mph you're really doing 60mph. IMHO that isn't enough of a difference to worry about.
UKMatt

One thing to note is wheel rubbing generally has more to do with offsets and width then diameter. Really, if you use the proper tire sizes the overall diameter (wheel + tire) should be the same (or very close as some have mentioned). So basically, if you go from a 17 to and 18 but keep the offset and width the same (for example), as far as your car is concerned there is no difference.
If you push the offest out (lower number) or increase the width substantially, then you may have issues.
