Anyone use anything besides 235 65 17? How wide can you go before it rubs? Height looks like I'm locked into 29", maybe a half inch more will fit but that's it.

Biggest tires fitted into an XC90 wheel well were 275/65R19. It was a post on here a couple months back. I run 255 width.

i also run 255/60 I do find the sizes to be limited though. If this set only lasts me a year (30k) then i will try 245/65 All terrains next. I was getting 70-90k out of a set of tires on my Xterra.

As far as I know, the rims are all the same offset to keep profile.

Why only 245's? What size rim?

The Volvo 17x6.5. The next size with all terrains is 255/65 which may be too big, definatley too big to utilize the spare with.

275/55 17 28.9X10.8

255/60 17 29X10

So these are my choices besides stock if I still want to be able use my donut. Slim pickings lol

the 245 should work with a donut too. it's only a 1.7% difference and the donut is supposed to be just temporary. As for the 275s, my 255s are pretty close to rubbing struts on the inside, I would expect you would need spacers or even yet, wider rims with a greater offset for clearance.

The guy that did it used stock Vulcanis rims, so maybe the offset is different. If I were you I would go with the 255's. They are tested, and work well. Plus with it being winter, 275's will be really floaty on snow.

Well that makes it more interesting! If you didn't have to buy them unless they fit, I'd have a shop mount a set of 275's, then see if they rub. I go to a Tire Rama, and they will mount and test fit to make sure there are no issues. The guy even said we could drive it shortly to test turning and rub.

I have a friend at a dealer who can sometimes get me really good used tires for free, but I have to give him a few sizes and wait for something to pop up.
