Just bought a 1975 164E in South Africa and all the bushes are really shot. I can find all the bushes online even poly but not the front upper which I have now found out are different than the 140 uppers.

Thanks,
Andrew

Welcome to Swedespeed, Andrew.

Here is a discussion about your very situation...

http://forums.turbobricks.com/showthread.php?t=229250

...and here is the source for the parts...

http://www.voluparts.com/index.html

...but you will need to call/email Voluparts as they don't have an online catalog.

If you still have no luck ask Voluparts for the exact Volvo Part Numbers for the bushings so we can search again.

Thanks.

Hello George,

WOW thanks for the quick reply and adivce. After reading the thread on turbobricks I am leaning to changing the A arms to 140 as I am keen to use poly bushes throughout.

Regards,
Andrew

Remember that, although the upper bushings don't carry much weight, the front end of the 164 is MUCH heavier than the 140, so I would consider that pretty seriously before going to 140 upper A-frames.

I emailed Voluparts and the upper bushes for the 164 are no longer available. http://global.gcp.se/ and http://www.skandix.de/en/ both shows the part as out of stock. Voluparts also suggest changing the upper A arms to 140. One wonders why Volvo changed just the upper arms / bushes and not anything else. All the other components lower arms and all the ball joints are the same and yes the 3 litre is heavier. At least this way I can have poly bushes all over. Just need to decide on SuperFlex or SuperPro. The car is actually in very good condition for the age but still needs plenty work and suspension is first.

Here are the Volvo Part Numbers associated with 164 A-frame bushes...

679247, 679248, 683267, and 683760.

One or more of these appears to be available here...

http://www.wilpac.nl/shop/index.php?shop=1&language=en

...and their email is info at wilpac dot nl

This site appears to be associated with another popular non-USA online Volvo parts house.

Thanks for all the help guys. I found a few places that have the bushes and also some the complete A-arms with bushes and ball joints. I am concerned that these are NOS and won't last long so I am going to get the 140 A-arms and use poly bushes.
