Hello all: and Happy New Year!!!
Image

I just wondered what is included in the 150K service and what price can I expect from my dealer? My local dealer is shady and I have been going to one 60 miles away who seems to be on the up and up. I would rather go to the one here in town, but don't want to get ripped off.

Re: 150K Service (gs1397)

hey man, welcome ! I too am creeping towards that mark but haven't hit it yet, 142k but try searching here or maybe check your O-manual and look under the recommend service intervals or something, let me know what you find, I need to look myself ! Good luck man, Jon

The 150k service is the same as a 30k.
Well "what is that?" you ask
let me tell you
oil and filter change
plugs
pollen filter (except 98 which is done every 20k)
air filter
brake fluid change
top up fluids
overall check of vehicle-lubricate doors,hinges,power antenna,steering stops,etc,etc
A pretty thorough service that I personally would trust only to someone
who knows what they are doing.

cheers

Plugs at 30K?

Yes Volvo recommends plugs every 30 grand for our cars. I think the new ones have a different service interval though. Some people choose to do them every 15,000 though depending on upgrades etc.

Make sure the timing belt, its tensioners and pulley as well as water pump was done at 140K miles. If they haven't been done....DO IT NOW...for the guy with 142K on his car- This goes for you too.

How do you know my mileage?

Just kidding. I have 142,xxx and I haven't done all these. But I replaced the TB when the car had 78000, so I have some time. I'm still debating with myself - should I do it myself or go to the dealer (I don't know good Volvo indy mechanic)..

However, on a more serious note...I know you think you have a buffer even though you're over 140K due to the late change on the first TB, but I worry about the tensioners and pulley and maybe the water pump. Mine was changed late too, but I decided to get back on schedule on my second one after thinking of these parts, but I'm still at 110K

Re: 150K Service (MadeInJapan)

Hello again all,
I just spoke with the service manager and my timing belt was done at 103K miles so I will be passing it up for this go around. Those of you who have had the 150K done, what was your cost? This dealer charges $475... kind of steep if you ask me, but it does seem thorough;

Thanks for all the responses.

That seems steep for what was described in the 30k service. I would find an indie mechanic who specializes in Volvos and save half.

Re: 150K Service (Wayne T5)

With the 99's going to the VANOS computers can a indi shop do the service and a tune up? I too thought it was a bit steep, but what can you do when you HAVE to go to the dealer????

Ooops....forgot that '99 and up have their TB's changed at 100K miles or 120K kilometers now, so waiting on your TB change if you have a '99 or newer is correct. Our '98's and under are still at 70K miles ('93 850's are at 50K miles).
