I'm not sure sure to search for this because there is no error or any other drive issue but for 2+ weeks now, i started hearing this strange sound each time thw car is shifted into 'R' followed by engine power off.

There are no strange sounds from the exhaust when you power on the engine and drive off. At first, I chalked it off to strange noise relating to weather (season) since it has been pretty hawt lately in the North East. I tried to convince myself that the noise is weather related as I have learn to ignore strange sounds from my other car during winter months.

I had to record it today to make sure I wasn't hearing things. I'll appreciate if anyone can help me identify what this strange Reverse exhaust noise is.

TIA.

Link to Youtube (apologize for the poor quality video as it was done a rush).

Thanks for your response. It's a strange in that the only time u hear it is what the gear selector is in reverse. I've made an appointment with the shop. I'm hoping the find what it's without too much fuss but something tells me they're just going to
just blame it on software update and it'll still be there.

A good indie is great if your local dealer isn’t reliable, but looking at the map, you have some other options in Hudson Valley or Cheshire MA. Depends on how close you are to Albany and your willingness to travel for a (presumably) covered repair.

I had the dealer look at this for the second time in 3 weeks and they claimed they can't reproduce it after driving the car for ~30 mins.

In the mean time, i continue to hear the weird noise in the afternoon.

At least i got to drive an '18!xc90 for 24 hours. Amazing how much heads turn at each road and light I was on for the duration i had the xc90.

Even the nosy, intrusive busy bodies at my office couldn't help themselves. So much that they noticed my car was missing at the parking lot and automatically assumed i purchased a new vehicle. I can't believe how nosy the crazy people i work with are willing to go to confirm what they thought was my new car with some even emailing me or walking several doors just to chat in the hope that i mention it.
