Yeah, well... we all knew it was just a matter of time.
Coulda been better timing tho - got a family vacation to finance and some other business related bills to pay 1st.
Hopefully, it'll be back on the road in 45 days or so.
I'm busy coordinating the Removal/Reinstallation with a local shop.
I've already contacted Triple Edge and they will be doing the rebuild.
I'll post back later with the autopsy results
All things considered, 141k miles out of a transmission is quite respectable especially considering how easily a twin-turbo straight-six can so easily make a mess of things torque-wise.
Also AFAIK the 4T65-E used by Volvo is based on the heavy-duty MN7 version of the 4T65-E that GM reserves for its own hi-po supercharged 3.8L V6-powered sedan applications.

true, many of the parts that TripleEdge uses come from the upgrade kit's for that application, still some parts are not the same. the HD diff is said to be incompatible. however, i've never done a comparison so i don't know it the volvo model is as good as HD already, or close enough to it.
all the bands, clutches, etc.. that do get replaced are all good
