My wife and I traveled from Germany to Gothenburg to pick up our new S60T5 over the last week. Bottom line: we are VERY happy with this car. I thought that I would post a somewhat detailed message on our experience for those who are considering it...
We travelled by train to the port of Kiel in Germany and took the Stena line ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg. Volvo was there as we left the ferry and took us via limousine to their foreign sales office. Within minutes, they were going over all of our paperwork and provided a very detailed explanation of everything including the service schedule and warranty. As this was occurring, someone was getting our car and putting the license plates on. Within about 10 minutes, our car arrived in their showroom and the Volvo representative explained every function on the car to us and allowed us to inspect it thoroughly. I found a very small scratch on the left rear quarter panel (clearcoat scratch). They took the car away and fixed it on the spot. They treated us to lunch and then gave us a tour of the factory. That part was amazing. Having never been to a facility like that, we were amazed at the engineering marvel that we saw. The employees were very smart looking and noone appeared to be "leaning on the shovel." Watching the robots work was fascinating as well. We then took the car on the test track and drove it a bit, signed for it, and left for Stockholm, where we spent the next few days.
We returned to Germany with the car on the ferry and logged nearly 1200 miles on the entire journey. So far, I have nothing at all negative to report. The car is solid as a rock with none of the issues that I have seen in this forum, or any other for that matter. We went with all options minus the nav system and the upgraded stereo. Judging by the quality of the standard stereo, that was a good decision for us. I gave it a thorough cleaning when we got back home. I will try to post some pictures over the next few days for those who are interested.
All in all, we could not be happier and highly recommend the trip to those who can carve the time out of their schedules. The whole experience made us appreciate the car even more.

Thanks for the great report! I think that going to Gothenburg for TDS is one of the best deals anywhere. You get to visit the country and see the faces of the people who work hard to make your car.
-Drew

cavsct,
Having just returned from my TDS delivery in Europe and clocking 1900 miles in the process, I can echo all your comments. I too was worried by many things I've read on this forum, but my experience has been very positive. Volvo treated us very well, and the car performed as good as can be. As for Stockholm, it is easily the most beautiful city I've ever been to.
