So my front corner parking bulb burned out recently and I did a quick search for info in Kelly's very good 'Adventures in R lighting" thread
http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=40098
Reference is made to the Philips Silvervision PY21W, my OM calls for the 7507A and both claim to use the BAU15s base. Armed with this info I order the Silvervisions from Powerbulbs and they arrive with the free set of W5W 'peanut' bulbs, I get home from work, rip open the package ready to replace the burned out bulb, very cool ...NOT!
Turns out the PY21W and 750YA (single fialment w/offset base) are for the European market and my Candian R is actually fitted with the 1157A (dual filament non-offset base). DOH!
I have to give credit to Powerbulbs for having an accurate database, which I checked after the fact But it's a real shame that the on-line and hardcopy OM that I have is NOT accurate
http://apps.volvocars.us/owner...pg163 and neither is Sylvania.ca's fitment guide
This is what the 1157A looks like (take notice of the base):

It looks like the 5watt W5W will work even in a few places (licence plate, side signal, etc) even though my OM calls for something different. So at least I get something for my $22.00
1157AST (Silvania's performance signal bulb) can be found on eBay so that'll be my solution.
Has anyone else had the same mix-up?
Lesson: Take out the burned bulb and read off the part number before ordering a replacement.
LTA
ps. My Silvervision PY21W's are available for free, anyone who wants them can just pay shipping.
