You heard right boys and girls... this "coupe" does the 1/4 mile in 10.11 sec and has a 0-60 time of 2.37sec!!!!!

Sweet. Is that car street-driven?
Also, do you have a better pic of the sheet with the 0-60 time on it? I never heard of any racetrack or anything giving a 0-60 time. Did he have it professionally tested or something?

Well of course-- it's a Quattro Coupe! Those things have been bad-assed for years! Here are some examples of how quick those puppies are:
http://home.nycap.rr.com/dross/ombcoupe.mpeg
http://www.audituning.com/ - click on the "Media" link for insane videos, some which feature a Quattro-engined AWD VW GTI!!! This car is truly insane!
I had a chance to buy a white Quattro Coupe for dirt cheap back in about 1992 or so, the guy wanted only $8,000.00, and they easily fetch more than $15,000.00!!! He obviously had no clue what it was worth. I must have been smoking crack to have not purchased it!!! Oh well, everyone makes mistakes!
-he who stacks pork

Heheh, I plan on buying the less sexy and less expensive '84 4000 quattro. The car is the only year for the older (and IMHO more attractive) bodystyle in the USA. A relatively clean example, if you can find one, is about $1000. Not too hateful.
The motor isn't all that inspring, with a regularly aspirated 5cyl. However, it all bolts in.

Audi Sport Quattro
Made in EARLY 80s as homologation special, can STILL hang dead even with the Lancer EVO on all numbers, courses etc...
It is THE most badass car ever, it will be mine.......someday. And of course, tuned, they're rediculous. By the way, they're STILL worth about 65 grand and they are the reason why quattro is no longer allowed in racing.

quote:
Originally posted by [email protected]:
Did you make it down to Monterrey in '99. This is the car I'm referring to:

The sounds coming from the engine in that beast were unbelievable as it was driven at a moderate pace on the first showcase lap, but by the third and final lap, the driver had the throttle wide-open... Words cannot describe the awesome sounds of that supercharged mechanical wizardry!! Rumour has it that the car could break the tires loose at 150MPH back "in the day"!
-he who stacks pork

The Monterey Historics are well worth the trip. As a huge Audiphile also, I was in heaven at the show. They had a very nice collection of the Auto Union "Silver Arrow" racecars, and in addition an A4 STW racecar, an R8, an Audi V8 DTM and more. It was pretty amazing.

This time the basis will be an Audi A4 with 4-wheel drive, tube chassie, carbon fibre body and a 3.3 litre biturbo V8 midengine. More info shortly!"
THAT will be CRAZY... wonder if it will be faster than the GTI..? The GTI was in European Car a little whlie ago... fast little booger... (the replacement for displacement and forced induction... light weight...)

I saw the topic name and figured that it was likely one of those posts where someone makes an outrageous claim etc......
I saw the first graph and then started to believe, but I do wonder about the graph. That's the weirdest looking timeslip I've ever seen.
With everyone else seemingly in agreement and more knowledgeable than I, I believe the numbers now and I wonder what sort of modifications this car has undergone?
I'm also slightly depressed as I had a chance to buy a Quattro Coupe when I bought my A4. I remember seeing it on the lot for $18k Cdn. and thinking, boy that's a lot to ask for a 1991 even if it has low miles. I didn't really know what I was looking at! Oh, to think I could have had one of these beauties, now you guys tell me.
