Re: '07 S40/V50 Brochure Download Links (treacherous)

Thanks for posting these!
People have been saying on this forum that the maps for the navigation system are going to be stored on a hard drive but page 24 of the brochure says that the maps are DVD based. Just something I noticed.
Yeah I noticed that too, but wasn't sure if it was unintentionally left un-updated. Our car was supposed to get here last week, and our dealer has only told us it is "on it's way down" (kind of frustrating seeing we sold my car 2 weeks ago expecting it here in 10-14 days as they originally quoted us). As soon as we get it, I'll take pics and see if it's the same as FY2006 and prior.
Oh, and on another note, the brochure also mentions keyless drive as being able to unlock and drive the car without a key.

I'm totally cracking up. They show a close-up of the 6-speed shifter after dropping it on the T5 FWD model. If they want to emphasise sportiness they should offer it.

Some random observations in the V50 brochure:
- The photo on page 5 shows a recirculation button with Man/Auto and lights - this is IAQS, but there is no mention of it as an option or standard.
- The description on page 16 of the 6MT transmission available on the T5 AWD says it "further reduces fuel consumption during highway driving". They need to look at page 36 where the 6MT is rated 2mpg less than the 5GT highway.
- Keyless drive is shown on most of the cars, and none of them seem to have a keyhole on the driver's door like the regular version. Does that seem like a bad idea to anyone else?
- There are some rather nice-looking "Sport Textile Mats" on page 33. Haven't seen those before.
- The photo of the V50 on the beach on page 25 has completely ridiculous looking tailpipes, they are practically behind the lower skirt of the dynamic trim. Wrong pipes! Why would they use that shot?
- The S40 brochure still shows mostly women using the car. The V50 brochure shows men+women using the car together. The V50 photos seem a little less male-oriented than before. I think this is weird marketing.
Tom.

I see this weird marketing too! I know they're trying to go for the young market (It got me), but it's still a Volvo and still a car for all ages! I haven't looked at the V50 brochure yet but I'll have to see the things you pointed out. I also think the no keyhole thing is a very bad idea.
We'll see how it goes!

Exhibit A tells me there's no way those pole dancers are going to get their stage equipment in that S40!
