Last time I dropped by the Volvo dealership I noticed the 06 models have a spring loaded wind deflector in the sunroof. After looking closely at the mounting points I saw they were the same as on the 04... so I ordered up the part and presto!

snaps in to the existing mount – one on each side. Takes about 30 seconds to install.

I must say that it will start (sometimes that is) during slowing down, but after I "cruise/coast/drive normal" back at a certain speed the buffeting is gone again. I NEVER have it when cruising at ANY speed!!!
Maybe the little R-spoiler on the trunck "keeps" the air away more from getting inside the car tru the MoonRoof?

Re: (JARMO)

I've never tried having the roof open at that speed, I'll give it a try next time to see what it is like.
I haven't gone that fast in a while, last time was on A3 (Frankfurt to Nürnberg). I was going about 215k and some guy in a Porsche passed me like I was going in reverse.

My car's in the shop for an oil change and install for that deflector.
I also noticed I plainly don't have any deflector (never noticed) and I hope this one just snaps in

Re: (JRL)

Please let us know how it works. I hate the noise that I get from the open sun roof, if this one works I am running to the dealer the next day.

Re: (gregf90)

It eliminates the noise; at any/all speeds (in my car anyways).

I wouldn't recommend leaving your sun roof open at speed for extended periods of time unless you like tinitus...

Ironically enough I got a 2006 wagon from the dealer as a loaner today, and it has the deflector. So I messed with it, did an excellent job up to about 45 mph or so, after that the noise is basically too much. When I get my 2004 back I'll double check the noise level, but I think I am going to get one.
