Had our 05 XC90 in for the 15,000 service, service tech said that ours didnt qualify for the wiper recall, the system told him that. We looked up the recall and our VIN was in the range...
Anyone have a clue why this would be. He showed me the system that has the car recalls that need to be completed and the wiper recall was not listed (steering arm was). I live near Dallas TX if that
makes a difference.
I asked him to get back with me as to the reason it is not qualified, lets see what he comes up
with.

The VIN range is just that, "a range". Volvo issues campaigns in a given range and the dealer will look them up individually. Your vehicle might not qualify due to a supply issue during production or has already be updated during a previous repair visit or when it arrived at the port of entry into the U.S.

Thx, but this is just a "may have" or a "could be", got the same from the dealer. I will be looking for "the reason". Informed the dealer that his "excelent" rating will be waiting on the answer.
We got a letter from Volvo stating that it was being recalled, but this was just before we moved
from CA, we havent found the letter in all of the stuff yet.
thx for the input though.

As a former Volvo Service Manager we were required to perform all recalls that a vehicle needed. I would often see customers bring in letters to find out that the recall did not apply.
Volvo pays it's dealers to perform recalls so the dealer would lose money by not performing the recall. Volvo even posts a report back to the dealers if a vehicle was in their shop and did not have a recall performed.
Hopefully the dealer will get back to you with answers to your questions.

The issue is I got a letter that says to bring it in, and now they say they cant do it. I just need a
qualiied answer as why all of the sudden the recall isnt needed. I told them that I will come down and
look at their screen as to the reason, they were abel to show me the complete recall with my VIN in
it, and the listing that they need to check the recall screen for the specific vehicle to make sure it was listed. Well, it wasent listed.
I am not trying to bust their chops, just would like a listing that says that VIN x-y do not need it
because of XYZ. They stated they would do that because they are wondering also.

Mine was in the range and didn't qualify either. Here's the real kicker. I even had the nuts on the wiper arms loosen, due to snow and ice on the windshield while up snowmobiling last year. I told the dealer that and it still didn't matter.

You're going to have to ask the Volvo IT department for that one. Anyway, this kind of thing is pretty common, when a lot of cars are affected and the recall is being processed. It's certainly not the dealer's fault, and I would go dinging them on the survey because of it...
Tom.
