Wife's rear wiper motor died, only 75k on car! That's kinda sucky.
Anyway I hear it trying to go. It will articulate under power if you help it along by hand, but not enough power when you let wiper drag on glass.
So, a new one like $300, I'm thinking of pulling it out & seeing if it can be rebuilt.
Anyone have any experience, or better yet have a used one for an '03 or later I believe?
Thanks.

Re: 05 XC70 rear wiper motor repair (Roverguy)

Hi,
Had this exact problem with my car, and fixed it for diddly squat. Apparently, its because the spindle corrodes and so grinds to a halt. With nothing to lose I removed the motor, took off the backplate and laid it upside down so I could soak the internals in WD40 in such a way it would seep down the spindle. Left overnight it functioned as it should after a bit of help to get it going. I then left it again overnight soaked in penetrating oil, cleaned it out, greased the cogs, all back together and working as new. Its easier than it sounds, and best off all its free! Good luck.
Gary

I did some PB blaster & it is starting to turn on it's own. Left the hatch up for a few hours & let it soak in. I haven't tried it with the wiper arm on yet, but I am optimistic.
